Draco Malfoy





5 June: Draco Malfoy born.



31 July: Visited Diagon Alley with his parents to buy his school things, met Harry Potter in Madam Malkin's robe shop but was not introduced. Draco was friendly but condescending, and alienated Harry by insulting Hagrid.

1 September: Met Harry again on the Hogwarts Express, started Hogwarts and was sorted into Slytherin.

12 September: Challenged Harry to a midnight duel in an attempt to get Harry into trouble.

26 May: Served detention by going into the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid, Harry, Hermione, and Neville to find the creature that was killing unicorns.



19 August: Visits Diagon Alley with his parents, goes to Borgin and Burke's in Knockturn Alley.

5 September: Joins the Slytherin Quidditch team as Seeker.

7 November: Gryffindor - Slytherin Quidditch game. Gryffindor wins.

17 December: Duels with Harry at the Dueling Club organized by Professor Lockhart.

25 December: Chats with "Crabbe" and "Goyle" in the Slytherin common room, unaware that they are really Harry and Ron under the influence of Polyjuice Potion.



2 September: Injured by Buckbeak, a hippogriff, in Care of Magical Creatures class taught by Hagrid.

5 February: Draco, Crabbe and Goyle try to sabotage Harry by pretending to be Dementors during the Gryffindor - Ravenclaw Quidditch game.

12 February: Malfoy encounters Harry Potter's head in Hogsmeade, leading Snape to the conclusion that since his head was there, Potter himself must have been there, where he did not have permission to be.

16 April: Draco is Slytherin Seeker in the loss (20 to 230) which gives Gryffindor the Quidditch Cup.



1 September: The false Mad Eye Moody turns Draco into a white ferret.

13 November: Draco develops "Support CEDRIC DIGGORY - the REAL Hogwarts Champion" / "POTTER STINKS" badges, which are worn by most of the students of Hufflepuff and Slytherin, as well as many Ravenclaws. Draco and Harry duel.

25 December: Draco escorts Pansy Parkinson to the Yule Ball.

late June: Taunts Harry about Voldemort's return on the Hogwarts Express, and along with Crabbe and Goyle is knocked unconscious by a combination of jinxes and hexes cast by Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, and George.



sometime in November: Writes the original Slytherin version of the lyrics of "Weasley Is Our King."

November: After Gryffindor-Slytherin match, taunts Harry and the Weasleys after Slytherin's defeat and is attacked by Harry and George. As a result, Harry, Fred, and George are kicked off the Gryffindor team by Umbridge.

early April : When Marietta Edgecombe betrays Dumbledore's army, Draco earns 50 points by capturing Harry. The next day Draco is made a member of Umbridge's newly formed Inquisitorial Squad.

June: final day of O.W.L.s. Hit with a Bat-Bogey Hex by Ginny Weasley.

late June: After his father's arrest, delivers a death threat to Harry in the Hogwarts entrance hall.

With Crabbe and Goyle, attempts to ambush Harry on the Hogwarts Express, but makes the mistake of doing so in front of several D.A. members.


1996-97 Y16-Y17

June: Given task by Voldemort and possibly made a Death Eater as punishment for Lucius for his failure to retrieve the Prophecy orb.

Late June or early July: His mother Narcissa talks Professor Snape into making an Unbreakable Vow:

  • to watch over Draco "as he attempts to fulfill the Dark Lord's wishes"
  • to "protect Draco from harm"
  • to "carry out the deed that the Dark Lord has ordered Draco to perform" if it seems that Draco will fail

3 August : Visits Borgin in Knockturn Alley and intimidates him into reserving some merchandise from his shop.

31 August: Harry begins to think that Draco is a Death Eater.

1 September: Harry sneaks into Draco's compartment on the Hogwarts Express. Draco discovers him and stuns him.

mid October: Harry tells McGonagall that he is suspects that Draco was behind Katie Bell's near death due to the cursed opal necklace.

20 December: Slughorn's Christmas party, where Draco is caught wandering outside. Later Harry overhears Snape trying to get Draco to let him help.

1 February: Harry overhears Draco talking to Crabbe.

16 March: Harry realizes that Draco is using the Room of Requirement.

17 March: Myrtle tells Harry that she has been talking with another boy.

early May: Harry spies upon Draco in Myrtle's bathroom and overhears him crying and saying "I can't do it. ... I can't. ... It won't work . . . and unless I do it soon ... he says he'll kill me. ..." Unfortunately, Draco notices Harry and attacks him. Harry uses Sectumsempra, a spell he has never used before and is horrified to find that it causes physical wounds. Snape finds out and gives Harry detention for the rest of the school year. Madam Pomfrey heals Draco wounds.

Early June: Draco successfully uses the 2 vanishing cabinets to admit a group of Death Eaters into Hogwarts. Draco disarms Dumbledore (and thus becomes the master of the Elder Wand) but is unable to kill him. Snape arrives and kills Professor Dumbledore with the Avada Kedavra curse (HBP26), then flees with Draco.


1997-98 Y17-Y18

June or July: Draco's father Lucius is freed from Azkaban on Voldemort's orders (DH1).

July: Attends a meeting of Death Eaters at his parents' house and witnesses the humiliation of his father and aunt and the murder of Hogwarts professor Charity Burbage (DH1).

September 1: Draco begins his seventh year at Hogwarts.

March: While home on Easter holiday, resists identifying Harry, Ron and Hermione when they are captured and brought to the Malfoy mansion (DH23). Harry takes Draco's wand by force as he escapes (Narcissa later gives Draco her wand to use) (DH24).

May: Tries to stop Crabbe and Goyle from killing Harry, Ron and Hermione in the Room of Requirement; Crabbe and Goyle will not follow his orders. Harry saves Draco twice. When Narcissa is asked to make sure Harry is dead, she feels his still-beating heart and asks him if Draco is still alive; when Harry tells her 'yes,' she lies to Voldemort and tells him that Harry is dead (DH31).

After the Battle of Hogwarts, the Malfoy family is acknowledged to have rebelled against Voldemort and are not imprisoned with the rest of the Death Eaters (BLC).



September: Draco's son Scorpius enters Hogwarts the same year as Albus Potter and Rose Weasley (DH/e).
