The wizarding world is filled with magic. Sometimes magical effects are clearly identified as spells, such as Alohomora. Other magic appears in the form of devices or enchanted items. At other times, the magic is so integrated into the wizarding world that it's difficult to discern what it is exactly. If you're researching the magic of the wizarding world, then, it's difficult to know sometimes where to go to find what you're looking for. That's where this guide comes in. Here you'll find, in one place, lists of all magical effects, spells, devices, potions, ingredients, and terms. The intent is to make it easier for you to explore the wizarding world using the Harry Potter Lexicon's many encyclopedias and catalogs.

In order to make the lists easier to use, we have grouped things into four general categories.
Under "Items" you'll find various magical items. These terms are linked to more detailed information, in this case withiin the Definitive Directory of Magical Items and Devices.
Under "Potions," you'll find potions, ingredients, and other potion-related terms, and as you may have guessed, they are linked to the Encyclopedia of Potions. In the Potions lists, ingredients are listed in italics.
Under "Spells" you'll find various spells, charms, curses, and magical effects. These are linked to the appropriate areas of the Encyclopedia of Spells. In the Spells lists, incantations are listed in italics.
Not everything can be found quite that easily, however. For example, if you look under Misc. and see Occlumency, you'll find that it is hyperlinked separately. That's because Occlumency isn't a spell as such.
